My name is Idil Laslo, I am the person behind Idilius Jewelry…

I am a jewelry designer and maker based in Istanbul. Idilius Jewelry is my artisanal handmade jewelry line. I earned my bachelor’s degree in economics and had a long career in corporate life until I had found my true passion expressing my creativity in jewelry making. The malleability of metal, the craftsmanship, and the possibility of blending contemporary and traditional techniques became my fascination and this led me to end my corporate career and fully concentrate on making jewelry. Since then I have been learning the art with master jewelers of Grand Bazaar in Istanbul. All of my pieces are designed and handcrafted in my studio in Istanbul. Each of my pieces is unique and carefully handcrafted for the utmost comfort of the wearer.

I am a person of detail and a fan of solving constructional and mechanical problems. I find the process of making almost meditative. I take traditional forms and interpret them into my own style. My obsession with moving mechanisms influences my designs, I like creating intricate, mechanical and playful pieces. I incorporate spinning flowers, swaying leaves, locks that work, and many other forms of moving mechanisms in my jewelry. My jewelry aims to invoke the viewers’ or the wearer’s sense of awe and surprise when they discover my pieces. My designs are minimal, playful, and have a touch of color with either enamel, patina, or a lovely gemstone. With each piece, I include a fun and exciting feature in my designs; in a way they are wearable toys that click, shake, rattle, sway, or spin.
